Frequently Asked Questions
The Loop does not offer a postal testing service to the general public outside of our testing events. Details of our city centre drug checking can be found here.
Outside of our public drug checking services, WEDINOS is the only UK organisation to currently offer a postal testing service.
Kykeon Analytics and Energy Control International (both in Spain) offer postal lab testing services with information on percentage concentration where possible.
More extensive lab testing is needed for highly "diluted" samples. This includes samples prepared for injection (steroids and hormones), most pharmaceuticals (like Xanax and Valium) and vape liquids including many cannabis extracts. This is because testing for substances present in concentrations under 3% is much more complex.
Some basic testing can be done at home with “reagent tests” to get an immediate test result. The reusable bottles contain a chemical which changes colour depending on the substance it is exposed to. Mixing some with a piece of your substance allows you to immediately determine if the substance is different to the one you expected. The Loop uses this as one of its secondary test methods and obtains its reagents from Reagent Tests UK. Reagent Tests UK is also able to answer questions about testing and substance identification.
I have a substance I need to test, can you help?
Can you help me understand the risks associated with a certain drug?
As always, the safest way to take drugs is not to consume them at all, and even high purity drugs carry risks.
It is important to research potential risks and how to reduce these if you are going to consume drugs.
You should look for relevant material from a trustworthy source.
Asking questions to friends or social media groups will sometimes result in people answering your questions but forgetting to mention important information that you haven't asked about, so take care with advice from casual sources.
Some of our favourite resources are on the Resources page of the website.
Where will you be testing in the future?
We currently only provide drug checking at our city centre venues - Bristol, Hackney and Camden. We can’t always say where we are conducting back-of-house testing, but if we do find anything of concern, we post an alert.
